We are independent curators of Indian art.
We received our "primary schooling" in line and composition from
the renowned Calcutta-based Indian artist, the late Nikhil Biswas.
He was also the first to introduce us to the galleries of Kolkata,
and to the works of his peers, many of whom are now at the pinnacle
of their creative genius.
Through subsequent years, we enriched our informal art education
through study, regular attendance of exhibitions and lectures,
and interaction with artists and art galleries at home and
abroad.
Roshmi has written on art, artists and art education, for
'The India Magazine, 'The Independent' and 'The Statesman'.
During her 8-year stint as founder-partner of Artage Gallery,
Kolkata, she jointly curated more than 40 art exhibitions in
Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai. Established contemporary Indian
artists like Arpana Caur, Laxman Pai, Paritosh Sen, Lalu Prasad
Shaw, Rabin Mondol, Ramlal Dhar, Reba Hore, Sanat Kar, Shibaprasad
Kar Choudhuri, Shuvaprasann, Somenath Hore, and Suhas Roy,
were featured, as also younger artists who are now well known
names in art circles-as Chhatrapati Dutta, Parag Adhikari,
Ranadip Mukherjee, and Rathin Kanji.
A vast stock of India 's artistic talent is known to reside
in and around the two art hubs of Kolkata and Shantiniketan
in the Bengal region; from where they create an effervescing
mix of idioms and expressions, which feed and vitalize India
's art scene. From amongst them we shall select a gallery of
promising artists, who have we believe, the potential to leave
their mark on the national and international arena.
We shall project such Indian artists of conspicuous promise,
leaving them free to direct their energy and resources towards
perfecting their creative potential.
