Arunangshu’s works weld an assured handling of both traditional and contemporary themes and forms with a singular style and a decidedly individual outlook. Strong fluent lines and a fine instinct for the telling detail impress on his art a remarkable expressiveness.
While some of his compositions are built up with an exuberance of vivacious detail that underlines his often-sardonic perception, others are delineated with explosive minimalism – and a spontaneous artistry that rules that even a line more would diminish the total impact. Both aspects are strikingly illustrated in his ‘Banana Eater’ series.
